Development Academy (U8)
The Development Academy (U8) is skills-based program delivered by our professionally licensed coaches designed to help players born in 2012 and 2013 develop the skills needed to transition to our U9 competitive teams and beyond. Players are selected for teams during our FREE drop-in scrimmages.
Development Academy (U8) is skills-based program delivered by our professionally licensed coaches designed to help players born in 2012 and 2013 develop the skills needed to transition to our U9 competitive teams and beyond. Players are selected for teams during our FREE drop-in scrimmages.
Our U8 teams participate in two separate seasons leading up to tryouts:
Fall (2019): August 5th – November 25th
Spring (2020):February 18th to May 13th
Each season consists of two weekly training sessions and games during each of the segmented training periods.
Practices are held Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 – 6:30 pm at the Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.
The program cost is $100 per month for each of the 7 months. For the spring season the boys program costs includes an additional $50 charge to cover various league costs. Program costs do not include the cost of uniforms, which each participant will be required to procure separately.
During these 7 months, player development is focused on the following areas:
Technical Skills (ball control): Moves to beat an opponent, first touch, dribbling at speed, shooting and passing with both feet. Learning 1v1 and 2v1 situations.
Learning to Hold a Position: Learning 1v1 skills doesn’t help if your teammate takes the ball from you!
Psychomotor Skills Development: Practicing movements that will help with coordination on the soccer field.
Competitiveness: Players learn how to challenge themselves individually in a fun and guided environment.
