Della Woods

This past year one of our Legacy players, Della Woods, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. After two surgeries, Della, started a regiment of chemotherapy that she is now well into. At the end of her chemotherapy treatment it is believed that she will be free of cancer and return to her normal activities. Della has received a lot of support from a variety of areas, but much of that support has come from her second family, the Velocity. The families and her teammates have been a rich source of encouragement necessary to defeat cancer and win this battle. Recently the Placer United U14 girls team coached by John Chimienti and managed by Jill Kitchen were able to fund raise and donate a lap top computer to Della. Jill Kitchen and Jeanie Mabry raised the funds to make Della’s relative seclusion less painful. Regina Rosenzweig came up with the idea of using the Placer money to purchase the lap top and as you can see in the picture Della was extremely happy and very appreciative to all those that made this happen. From Davis Legacy, our club, would also like to thank the families, players and coaches from Placer, who did so much to invoke the concept of “Soccer Family”.
