Davis Legacy Soccer Club

The Davis Legacy Soccer Club boy’s team, Red Crew, displayed a stingy defense and potent offense in winning the U-15 championship at the July Davis Legacy College Showcase. The team advanced to the championship game by virtue of a three win / one tie record in preliminary round games.

The first day of the tournament Davis shut out its opponents, with 3-0 and 2-0 victories over Placer Gold and Davis Legacy White.in games that that showcased collective defensive teamwork by Matthew Nemeth, Adam Cunning, Rami Rashmawi, Shane Pesis in support of goalkeepers Matthew Linvill and Andres Olmeda . Youcef Rezagui and Antonio Rodriguez generated all of the team scoring with three and two goals, respectively, and Adam Cunning and Alex Raya contributed one assist apiece.

The followng day Red Crew defeated Cap City FC with another shutout, 3-0, that included two more scores from Rezagui and another from Rodriguez. The afternoon game with Placer Blue was closely contested, ending in a 1 -1 tie. Davis knotted the score near the end when Paul Hinton crossed a ball into the goal area that Alex Perez, in heavy traffic, deftly headed into the net.

Sunday’s championship game was a rematch with Placer Blue that began as a defensive struggle. With ten minutes remaining Placer scored first and Davis responded a few minutes later when Raya netted a 22 yard laser strike from the left side. Two minutes remained in regulation time when Davis maneuvered the ball into Placer’s half with a series of of passes that culminated with a Perez assist to Rezagui, who shot the 20 yard bullet that won the game, 2 to 1, and championship.
